We have been running into a problem here with Little. He sleeps like a champ when he is swaddled (think: baby that looks like a burrito with a head), but he is now over 6 months old and we are still swaddling him which he artfully removes himself from by thrashing his body back and forth until his arms are free! We tried last night for over 30 minutes to get him to fall asleep in his crib without being swaddled and it was a fiasco, so we swaddled him better and then he went to sleep.
I'm afraid we're going to end up trying to swaddle him 'til he's 2 or 3 years old!
What do you think, to swaddle or not to swaddle?

Oh my gosh, we swaddled T FOREVER!! We would try to stop...but then he would get sick or something so we would swaddle him so he could feel comforted. We went back and forth, but he LOVED being swaddled.q..and it had to be really, really, really tight. It got to be so bad that I couldn't swaddle him tight enough, Steven had to do it. It was frustrating to say the least. So...if you absolutely can't get him to sleep without it (I would be leaning over his crib for HOURS on end...rubbing, singing, soothing...etc) then go for it, but I would say try to start getting him to sleep without it as soon as possible. Poor babies...I don't blame them for needing comfort in this noisy world!
